     Speaker Biographies

Wolfgang Baeck – Wolfgang is a professional engineer in Applied Physics from a Hochschule in Munich, Germany. He has been a consultant in Database, Real Time Systems, and Object Oriented technology for many years, taught and lectured but mostly helped businesses to implement their business process with the right technology for the future. Marc Beacom – Marc is currently a Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence Consultant utilizing the Microsoft BI tool stack. He has a breadth of IT work experience including web development, network support and SQL Server development. Marc is active in the local IT community and is the President of the Denver SQL Server User Group (www.DenverSQL.org) and VP of Membership at the Colorado Springs SQL Server User Group (www.SpringsSQL.org). Todd Behrbaum – Todd Behrbaum has 13 years of technology management experience, most recently focused on building a partnership with Microsoft to develop and market enterprise level solutions. Prior to joining PolyServe, he was the Site Manager for Compaq and HP's server and solutions organization in Bellevue, WA. He collaborated with Microsoft on new technologies, enterprise solutions, and strategic initiatives targeted at Fortune 500 customers. Prior to Compaq, Todd held business development and project management positions at Tempress and IBM where he identified new markets and grew revenues in new channels. Todd graduated from the University of Washington with both a Masters and a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Volkan Buyukacar – Volkan Buyukacar (MSCE, MCDBA) is currently working as a DBA at a Fortune 500 company in Colorado Springs. Volkan has worked at different areas of IT for the last 6 years specializing on Microsoft and Cisco technologies. Volkan has specialized on SQL 2000 and 2005 server for the last 3 years and supported databases distributed globally and nationwide. Kalen Delaney – Kalen Delaney has been working with SQL Server since 1987 when she joined the Sybase Corporation in Berkeley, California, where she work in both the technical support department the training organization. Kalen was an independent trainer and consultant from 1992 until she helped create Solid Quality Learning in 2002. As a consultant, she has worked with both the Microsoft and Sybase Corporations to develop courses and provide internal training for their technical support staff. Kalen has taught Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC) courses, as well as her own independently developed courses to clients around the world. In addition, she has been writing regularly about SQL Server since 1995. Her latest book, "Inside SQL Server 2005:The Storage Engine", from Microsoft Press, was released in October 2006 and she is currently working on the next volume: Inside SQL Server 2005:Tuning and Optimization. Ben Hoelting – Ben is a Software Developer with Colorado Technology Consultants, Inc. He Graduated from Colorado State University in 1997 with a BS in Computer Information Systems and a Minor in Computer Science. He has been in the IT industry since 1996 and worked for the Gates Corporation (formally the Gates Rubber Company) from 2000 - 2005. Ben left Gates to pursue a consulting career and he currently works for Colorado Technology Consultants, Inc. in Colorado Springs. Eric Johnson – Eric Johnson (MCSE, MCITP: Database Administrator, MCSD) is a co-founder of Consortio Services, and the primary Database Technologies Consultant. He also also a Microsoft MVP in SQL Server and a host of the weekly podcast series CS TechCast (cstechcast.com). Currently he works for IntrinsiQ as a database developer. His background in Information Technology is diverse, ranging from operating systems and hardware to specialized applications and development. He has even done his fair share of work on networks. Since IT is really just a way to support business processes, he has also acquired his MBA. All in all, he has 10 years of experience with IT, a great amount of which has been working with Microsoft SQL Server. Eric has managed and designed databases of all shapes and sizes. He has delivered numerous SQL Server training classes and webcasts as well as presentations at national technology conferences. Most recently, he presented at TechMentor on SQL Server 2005 Replication, Reporting Services, and Integration Services. Joshua Jones – Joshua Jones (MCTS: SQL Server 2005, MCITP: Database Administrator) is co-owner and Operating Systems Consultant with Consortio Services in Colorado Springs, CO. There he provides training, administration, analysis, and design support for customers utilizing SQL Server 2000 and 2005. In his 7 years as an IT professional, he worked in multiple areas of Information Technology including Windows desktop support, Windows 2000 and 2003 server infrastructure design and support (AD, DNS, Exchange), telephony switch support, and network support. Josh has spoken at various PASS sponsored events about SQL Server topics such as 64-bit SQL Server Implementation, Reporting Services Administration, and Performance Tuning. Greg Keller – Greg has over 12 years of experience in the development of data, application, and process modeling technologies and products. He oversees the development and execution of Embarcadero's technology strategy. Prior to joining Embarcadero, Greg served in key sales and product evangelism positions at Popkin Software for the System Architect family of products. Greg is regularly a featured panelist in data modeling and metadata management conferences, and is a regular contributor to various data modeling columns and discussion groups. Brad McGehee – Professional Experience Brad M. McGehee is a MCSE+I, MCSD, and MCT (former) with a Bachelors’ degree in Economics and a Masters in Business Administration. Currently the Director of DBA Education for Red Gate Software, Brad is an accomplished Microsoft SQL Server MVP with over 10 years’ SQL Server experience. Having founded the popular community site SQL-Server-Performance.Com, where he now acts as the technical editor and forum moderator, Brad specializes in SQL Server Administration, Performance Tuning, and High Availability. He regularly consults with multiple clients, helping them to get the most out of SQL Server. Community Support Brad is a frequent speaker at SQL PASS, SQL Connections, SQL Server user groups, and other industry seminars, where he shares his 10 years’ cumulative knowledge. Kat Meadows – Kat has been working with SQL Server since 1998. Currently she holds the position as Senior DBA and Manager of the Database Service team for EL Paso County where her primary focus is for strategic planning, database development and administration for SQL Server. Past positions have allowed her to work in military\government, manufacturing, and dotcoms environments. Bruce Prang – Bruce Prang is a Group Manager in the Sql Server Manageability Group. This group is responsible for the overall manageability tools and infrastructure in the Sql Server group. Prior to this role he was the Development Manager for the Management Tools group which was responsible for SSMS, Sql Agent, SMO, SQLCMD, Profiler and DTA. Terry Ray – Terry is a Senior Security Engineer for Imperva ™, Inc., a provider of Web and database application security solutions. At Imperva, Terry has designed and deployed application security solutions and performed application penetration testing for a wide range of healthcare, financial services, government and eCommerce organizations. Prior to joining Imperva, Terry worked in a variety of technical roles at Check Point Software Technology ltd. Including technical support, security engineering, and end-user training. Terry has lectured on general network security topics and taught Check Point and other security related product certifications in over 30 countries worldwide. Dean Richards – Dean has over 20 years of Oracle and SQL Server project development, implementation and strategic database architecting. Before coming to Confio, Dean held engineering positions at McDonnell Douglas and Daugherty Systems, an object-oriented solution provider for Anheuser-Busch. Dean was also a technical director for Oracle Corporation managing all aspects of their broadband account including short and long-term technical planning and strategic alliances. Chris Shaw – Chris is currently the Manager of Database Administration for Premiere Global Services Inc in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and has been for the past 4 years. Chris has also worked with Yellow Pages Inc, Ford Fairlane Motor Credit, AdminiQuest, Wells Fargo and AT&T Wireless. He has published a number of Articles for a number of magazines including SQL Server Magazine. Chris has given a number of Presentations at the local SQL Server User Group along with one at the .net user group in Colorado Springs and the Rocky Mountain SQL Server User Group in Denver. Chris has also spoke at Compassion International along with speaking at the PASS Summit in 2005. Russell Tuttle – Russell Tuttle has been a senior systems Consultant with Quest software for over five years and has also been involved with Post-Sales Training on SQL Server and Oracle Solutions. Before Quest, Russell worked for a small consulting service delivering data warehouse and OLAP Solutions after leaving Oracle.
